How are your Festive Winter Hearts?
Mine feels like I really should not really be writing this! My To Do List is SO long, I feel slightly anxious after going on my podcast and presenting travels to Vienna, Amsterdam, Czech Republic, Dubai and India - all in the last two months, but?
I am feeling rebellious!
Is there ever a good time to do anything these days? The things we often shelve or side line are usually the ones we need most to make us truly happy, fulfilled and content.
So? Being as the word content, also means a different kind of content in the audio and video world, I am going for the double whammy, double meaning and hoping that one will lead me to the other before I have to go back to online shopping and finishing my edits of Beat Wala in the Xmas Run Up.
I have so much material recorded from Dubai and Amsterdam, I have piles to wade through, so expect a lot of new Episodes and material very very soon, But First?
Persistance Pays Off - Repeat after me…
Two years ago I approached Nightmares on Wax to do another interview after meeting him when I first arrived to the island in 2013, this time for Beat Wala.
He declined but said, start the series first, get some good guests and come back to us and we can talk again once things are more established.
I did. He declined again, but said to “stay in touch”. 6 months later I was sitting in a restaurant and had forgotten all about it when I heard his music playing in Taco Paco at a girls dinner and over many Margaritas.
Right then and there, I put a note in my phone and made a mental note to try one last time the next day.
Luckily this time he said Yes, but not without a caveat. Could I host him to talk about his new album at Beat Hotel on the roof of The Standard Hotel in Dalt Vila in front of a LIVE audience? YES, I believed I could! I cancelled a trip to the UK this summer to stay & make the episode and I am not going to say much more, except what began as simple, relentless badgering, grew into a BIG old beast.
I got paid to create the show, extra sponsorship and best thing of all, I got forced to launch our very own YOUTUBE finally which had been delayed for a number of reasons and I really loved learning about Sound System Culture from both George and the other guest on the episode, British Fashion Designer, Nicholas Daley.
All in all not a bad days work!! Ok, well….it was actually about five days !!
But to have him talk about the next mixtape, Echo 45, and hear about his experiences of pirate radio, buying his very first Speaker Box and working with Mos Def as you hear about in the initial video at the top of the letter? Was pretty priceless.

Last week, I realised there is one thing I have done very little of this year. Teaching!
I gave one podcast course when the year began, with four amazing women, but this year has been frantic with no teaching time at all. So? I am determined to kick start 2026 with a podcast course and it feels like February has space for one last Hurrah!
I am giving my last ever Beginners Podcast Course in 2026, over four FEB FRIDAYS for just 199 Euros, before some very big planned Ibiza podcast events here and a series of master classes and a retreat next year to up the pod stakes entirely.
