Sometimes we just can´t see what one little chance opportunity will give us or how life changing it will be, so usually if offered anything, I say Yes! Resoundingly!
So it is with GREAT pleasure after someone called out the blue a few weeks back TO ask if I could to co-host the CULT TECH SUMMIT in Vienna in October, that I did Exactly that!
If anyone has any Vienna expertise feel free to fire it over, I have never been and can´t wait to see a little bit of the Austrain capital´s artistic and intellectual legacy, which was shaped by residents including Mozart, Beethoven and Sigmund Freud.
I have only ever been to Austria to Ski and won´t be allowed to eat tonnes of cheese or drink schnapps this time, so all healthy cultural tips welcomed - Thank You !
GOLDFISH: CAUGHT IN THE LOOP : THE BAND TALK US THROUGH THAT MAGIC IBIZA MOMENT THAT LANDED THEIR IBIZA RESIDENCY ………
I first heard Goldfish on Spotify digging out that all important yoga playlist perfection with a song called REAL DEAL. It led me to fall in love with their debut album from 2006, Caught in a Loop and I probably haven´t listened or followed them so much since, but when I heard they would be in Ibiza last year, I tried to catch them but a venue was not possible to find last minute and we abandoned ship.
Roll forward a few weeks ago, Dave and Dom, joined me at MIKASA - a stunning boutique hotel on the rooftop at what was meant to be sunset, for a conversation about their new album. It was SO hot we were all drenched by the end and we all drank an ice cold beer together straight after and what I suspected all along, was true.
They are two of the loveliest chaps in dance music and their whole families watched our chat, as they were off to dinner right afterwards.
But they got their big break when a guy who owned a German Spring Break hotel invited them to stay and perform in Es Canar! From there a Mambo slot came up and after being spotted by Danny Whittle, the rest as they say is history, as they landed a four year residency at Pacha and a record deal!
Sometimes it really is all about the timing.
The pair have left Cape Town & now live in California but Ibiza has a huge place in their hearts and they come every summer. Coming soon some very exciting news about a collboration with BEAT HOTEL and a dream guest I have been chasing for years who finally said yes, after MUCH persistance and badgering!!
Persistance pays off People!
