Future Footsteps...it is Almost Here!!

.Plus, How do we plan a good death?

Dear Rebels,

Sometimes things don´t go according to plan and 2025 for most of my friends and family, has definitely proven this to be true!

Whether it is due to Mercury being in Retrograde or the wobbly winds of life being a little too fierce lately, I am not hugely sure, but something is in the air! Just me?

So imagine my dismay when I woke up this time last year, bounded out of bed to meet my hair and make up man to suddenly put my back out on the morning of TEDX Dalt Vila, which I was due to be hosting in just a few short hours time.

I panicked, then went into pure disbelief, then utter despair and absolute bloody agony, tears and masses of very strong pain relief. I skipped brekkie (big mistake) and as the curtain came up and my name got called through the “Voice of God” I skipped on stage feeling quite buoyant in my trainers. maybe I was going to be ok after all?

But as I started to speak my knees felt weak from pain killers and no food, my hand shook and my voice wavered. Stumbled….see above video.

I did my very best to style it out in the only way I know how - faking it until I could get a grip, but I really wished I had, “had my Weetabix” that day!! I can´t lie.

This year, I am taking drastic measures to stay match fit, I am in serious training already - rising early, reading some books to stay on the right path - Thank You @shelfhelpclub and Toni Jones - hitting the gym, meditating and trying to stay calm with visualisations and affirmations and generally, taking it easy in the run up.

I attended rehearsals last week at the wider Sounds studios in San Lorenzo and met Sierra Campbell, who is an Elder Care and End-of-Life Educator dedicated to transforming how we approach aging and end-of-life care.

After establishing home health and wellness services in the United States post-college, Sierra spent a decade caring for more than 100 elders during their final years.

I loved her perspective about how we can all plan for a good death. Of course talking about it so Taboo!! But in reality, we all have to face it at some stage, so why not talk to family and friends and make damn sure it´s a Happy old Ending or at least the BEST it can possibly be? FULL podcast coming out tomorrow on The Reset Rebel

Lastly, I was reminded, as a podcaster and broadcaster of 25 years into recording interviews with big names, how I can, on the odd occasion, still be a nervous wreck before show time!!

I had a proper little wobble this week meeting Bushwacka for Episode 17 of Beat Wala. Why? I was on the back foot seemingly and had hired a new studio, was doing it DIY style in terms of the videography and sound when the last ten episodes I had been spoiled with buckets of budget for someone to do all that for me.

It felt too much for a Monday morning and guess what? It was!! I pulled it off, like always, but I got super stressed out and it was a good reminder that we simply can´t do everything. We need help. In the end I got some from Jonno the studio manager at the Hub Studios, but making a video podcast series is a bit like making a TV show single handed, unless you are Joe Rogan with millions and a huge team and I have learned so much in the last year from the researching, being on camera, video editing, lighting and production techniques, art work, design, branding, studio set up, sound quality both in and out doors and on location, cameras, guest booking and guest management, music licensing, Youtube and Spotify for creators as a platform and what does and does not work.

The. Hard. Way.

I am so proud of what I have created, but it has been a baptism of FIRE frankly going from audio only to video. However, I am still going, sponsorship feels like it is about to land after literally dozens of meetings with some lovely, but also rediculous people on this island and all over the world and I tell you something. If I do, in face when I DO land this deal, I am going to celebrate, BIG TIME!

You will, OF COURSE, be first to know if so, because there will be a launch party for starters. Ideally when it all falls into place at the International Music Summit next month, but a knees up shall be had. Mark My Words.

So please do keep it locked meantime and my Episode with Mathew aka Bushwacka, which I explained how we met with my Vagina tourettes, lands next week. I will drop you a line when it is out.

I bid you a very good morning ahead and firm adios and as always say a huge and humble thank for reading this email. I love being here with you. Truely.

The Struggle is always real to write for me. I feel like I suck at it compared to making audio, so thank you for being here,

Speak next week lovely people,

Much Love,

Jo
