I have exciting news!! My New Radio show on Openlab for TEDx Dalt Vila starts tonight at 6PM CET!!
My very first guest, as you hear in the clip up above is Rolf Blakstad, the most famous island resident architecht and a man whose entire lineage and heritage aligns with the way the island came to be known, through “The Finca.”
In 2019 I read his fathers book in a rough manuscript before it got published.
I would not say I am big into buildings or wasn´t until I read that book which got translated into English a year later, when they had a bit more time to focus on it in 2020.
It is called BLASKSTAD. THE IBIZA HOUSE and from the very first pages, as I read how his father travelled to the island by boat before the island had an airport, I was transfixed and slightly obsessed.
His story is a good one and his TEDx Talk is called, “Ibiza, An Island Time Forgot.”
Rolf and his family have dedicated themselves to the study of preserving and evolving traditional Ibicenco building in areas of dry zone architecture that share a common root throughout the world.
