Dear Rebels,
How are your soon to be springing hearts?
I was lucky enough to feel the icy embrace of the mountains last week in Andorra.
A feeling quite like no other when you sit on the chair lift, solo, as I did one morning on my final day and just feel that blanket of pure white peace wash over you.
In many ways I think its the difference in sound that creates this feeling of calm. No traffic, no hard surfaces and in fact on further investigation there is a real science to it.
Snow absorbs sound waves and the reason snow is able to absorb sound is because it is porous. Snowflakes are six-sided crystals, and they are filled with open spaces. Those spaces absorb sound waves, creating a quieting effect over a blanket of snow.
So, to take that final run, top to bottom without stopping, heart thudding, exhilaration whooshing through every cell and molecular ounce of ones being is not just a privilege, it is just indescribable. Feeling disgustingly lucky to have gotten out and into “it” momentarily for three swift days and nights. More snow time soon Please!
If you need some soft Snowscape for the ears this Monday, at the start of this email is a Play button which fires up the very first show I created for OpenLab.fm - the local radio station you may have heard of it you ever visited the White Isle.
It features music and interview with Rolf Blakstad, one of the islands most prolific architects and well known and respected faces. If you have heard of the islands Finca or seen the white washed facades you will enjoy this conversation and sound track.
You can also listen online here on SoundCloud.
These shows on Openlab are all a part of the run up to TedX Dalt Vila on 29th March.
You can learn more about the island themes we are about to explore on the website with our 12 speakers and four performers : www.tedxdaltvila.com
Tune in every Tuesday at 6pm to hear more interviews on Openlab.fm LIVE.
Tomorrow I will be speaking to Italian composer, film scorer and ambient composer and musician, Coco Francavilla all about her Music For The Sea NGO.
I dropped into her studio in San Lorenzo called Wider Sounds for a cuppa this morning to discuss the work she is doing to protect our Oceans and Balearic waters from pollution, human destruction and sound distortion.
She invited me on a very exciting expedition in April to deploy the very first hydrophones, that will record sound underwater for the next 3-6 months between Ibiza and Formentera. Naturally I said yes! I wrote an earlier edition of this newsletter about my diving adventure with the islands Vellmari Team to collect Posidonia Roots and replant them last summer and this will be a part of their work also.
I am in deep admiration of CoCo and all that she does to try to link the music industry and build deeper connections with nature and for each ecosystem and infrastructure to support the other, as without one the other would never exist.
If you wish to join us in March we still have tickets left for TEDx. I am super excited & honoured to have been asked to return for a third year to host it on stage in front of 400 people!
It is always a an absolute thrill and if you wish to come and be a part of it, we would LOVE to have you with us.
Last but not least, I launched 2 brand new podcasts on the podcast course earlier this month! This is the one I laughed the most at:
Two women in their late forties on the road to their “Fabulous fifties” and the word vagina was often mentioned over the course of the days of workshops in Ibiza!
To say i enjoyed teahcing these women how to get their show on the road is an understatement and the next course is almost upon us next month at the Hub Ibiza, 07 and 08 March. Link to sign up here should you wish to join us :

Thank you as ever for reading this little ramble from me and I hope to connect very soon here in Ibiza or drop me a comment or reply if you wish to say Hi!!
Much Monday Love,
