Putting the NO into Techno....

A New Christmas mantra maybe?

Dear Rebels,

How is your festive fettle my friends? Are you feeling the “most wonderful time of the year,” ……? or ready to bash up every single one of Michael Buble´s Christmas Baubles if you hear him sing one more time in a shop you just don´t want to be shopping in!!! Either way I feel YOU!! I really do!!

In October I met a sparkly human called Louisahhh who taught me a little about putting the "NO" into Techno!

I loved meeting her at ADE in Amsterdam, she immediately drew me in.

She is a pure Punk at heart and a true techno Queen when she plays out, but she also loves to "scream over bangers" when performing live - which she does quite a lot!

Needless to say we hit it off and she is a sparkly soul, who has been in recovery for almost two decades and been through the whole party scene and come out the other side with more than a spring in her step after a major family intervention back in the day. Listening to her gave me much food for thought….. and I loved her rebellious, unapologetic, “I´m going to take up space” style and and energy.

She teaches people consent, shares stories and solutions about mental health in music, makes a podcast called "Sober Sex", released her debut album Freedom is a Practice in 2021, wants to make the dance floor a more safe space and advocates for much more inclusivity, diversity and politics in dance music.

In fact she told me the dance floor for her is a “political” space.

Find out why in todays episode of Beat Wala:

Now, despite my distinct loathing of Christmas, I love one thing and one thing only about it and that is TESS PRINCE of Love Food Ibiza!!

Every Year for the past four years we have enjoyed a festive special podcast episode together, which is basically a good excuse to get tiddly and eat her incredible food and chew the fat about the year gone by.

So, to invite her as my guest for EP.200 this week, was a no brainer and we popped our podcast picnic rug out on Es Figeral, sampled the brand new 48% gin from local farm, Terra Masia, which she had made into a Ginger Bread affair for cocktails and had a three course feast fit for a podcast QUEEN…..which I am regularly told I am in ibiza and for once, I am taking my crown to jaunt into 2025….and to end this year feeling proud as punch to have hit my milestone and podcast goal for the year! Boom!

I will pop out the link next week when it is edited, the naught bits are removed and I have recovered from the festive fun and frolics we had !!

Have you got a podcast dream for Next Year? I am mid re-launching my website to include a mini European tour I am going on next year, sharing my podcast Course.

So far, I have Barcelona booked 27 and 28th January at ONE CO WORK space, Lisbon locked in for march and Zurich also on the hit list after being asked to host a live podcast event there in March to kick start their own brand new podcast series and launch their new podcast studio.

London is also looming on the horizon, dates and venue TBC very very soon!!

But, to launch the website, I will be running a very special story telling workshop with one of my absolute favourite speakers, who is going to help us nail our presentation style, make the speech, give a talk or take that meeting and smash it with confidence and disctinct fervour and effervescence. Sound good?

Keep your eyes locked on this newsletter if you wish to join us, its looking like January 15th, so mid way through the month of misery, a shining beacon of joy and story telling sparkle to look forward to and a total one off and distinct coup tp land the brilliant, Marsha Shandur, but more on that when I finish my website and write to you again, next week!!

ThankYou for reading as always, its a huge pleasure to be here.

Much Love Meantime,

Jo xxxx
